Find Cruise Deals Quicker by Favoring a Cruise Port
Our Cruise Deals App works particularly well for those with some flexibility in their schedules. The best type of flexibility comes in two forms:
- Location – are you close to a port?
- Time – can you get time off?
In this post, we’ll discuss the first type – Location.
How close are you to a cruise port?
Are you within driving distance to a cruise port? If so, good for you for moving within a “cruising zone.” Great decision. This will be easy for you – you’ll obviously want to “favorite” your closest cruise port(s).
The app has roughly 70 debarkation ports. If your favorite cruise port is towards the bottom of the list, it could get annoying to scroll all the way down every time you’d like to check out today’s best cruise deals.
Fortunately, you don’t need to do that!
We’ve built in the ability to “favorite” a port. Once this is done, you’ll see any preferred port(s) listed at the very top of the app when opened.
STEP 1 – download Cruise Deals App for iOS
Hopefully most of you can skip this step. If you don’t already have the mobile app, please click to download: Cruise Deals App for iOS. It’s FREE and you won’t need to create an account or anything to begin. Just download and start checking out the huge cruise discounts immediately.
STEP 2 – find your Favorite Cruise Port
For most of us, this should be pretty simple. If there are one or two cruise ports within driving distance, those will be your “favorites.” But, don’t let this stop you from saving more than just those ports within driving distance. If you’ve always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise, then save ports with cruises leaving to Alaska!
If you’re not fortunate enough to be within driving distance of a cruise port, you’ll want to ask yourself a few questions.
Where should cruise?
If you’re looking for a Caribbean cruise, then you can save ports like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, New Orleans, Galveston, etc. If you’re hoping for an Alaskan cruise deal, look to cruise from Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, or Alaska. To figure out which departure ports go to your desired location, go to Cruiseline.com, and include that destination in the “Select Destination” dropdown. Then open the “Departure ports” and it’ll show you all of your options. Here’s what that will look like.
Is price most important to me?
If you’re most interested in getting the biggest cruise discount, then there are a few strategies to consider.
Know where the deals are. Ports like Miami and Fort Lauderdale will have many, many more departures than others like San Francisco. As such, the likelihood of a huge cruise discount is greater. If you’re most concerned with finding the biggest cruise deals, then favorite ports that have more sailings. To make it easy on you, click to find a complete list showing Cruise Port Traffic listed by Port. It even has a fun infographic to see that info. Here’s a sneak peek of that.
Which ports are most accessible?
Maybe you’re not within driving distance of a departure port. Then how do you know which to favorite? You’ll want to find which is most convenient and/or cheapest to access. If you’re in Nevada, you’re probably better off flying to LA and leaving from Long Beach or San Pedro vs flying through multiple time zones to Florida. Also, consider which port locations are cheapest to access. If you can find a port with many departures, cheap flights, and direct access, then that’s a great candidate!
